Srinagar, January 19 (KNO) : The Lal Ded incident has left everyone including the State administration shocked with the people pointing their fingers on the authorities at the concerned, terming the incident as ‘inhuman and surprising’. Notably, a woman gave birth to a baby on a road after doctors at Lal Ded hospital allegedly didn’t allow her to stay in the hospital overnight. The lady was identified as Suraya. The incident has surprised one and all here, compelling the divisional administration to order a probe into the ‘negligence’ of doctors. The medico body namely Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) headed by Dr Suhail Naik had also termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and had demanded probe into the matter. The medico body has also demanded stringent action against the involved doctor. Talking to KNO, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan said that he has ordered a probe into the incident and has directed the officials to submit the report within two days. He said that the investigation is going on and strict action will be taken against the erring official. The Divisional Commissioner has directed the Principal/Dean GMC to come up with the factual report into the incident. The order he has issued reads that "this incident needs a thorough inquiry to find out the factual position, so that appropriate action is taken against the concerned if found liable for such negligence/ act. You are accordingly directed to enquire into the matter and furnish the inquiry report along with your explicit comments within two days, treating the matter most urgent.” Meanwhile, the mainstream politicians including two former chief ministers demanded action in this regard. Former chief minister and NC Vice president, Omar Abdullah in a tweet urged the Governor led administration to take immediate action in this tragic incident. “I hope the state functionaries working under the command of @jandkgovernor take immediate action in this tragic case,” Omar Abdullah tweeted. PDP president and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti also took to the twitter and termed the incident as heart wrenching, saying that she cannot even begin to fathom the pain and trauma the parents are feeling. “Heart wrenching that a pregnant woman was turned away from a hospital which ironically is named after the great Kashmiri mystic saint Lal Ded. She later gave birth to a still born in frigid temperatures. Cannot even begin to fathom the pain & trauma the parents must feel,” Mehbooba tweeted. (KNO)
